Bollywood is one of the highest producers of film in the world. On an average it churns out more than a 100 movies a year. Added to this is the equal number of movies produced by regional industries. India simply loves its movies and worships the protagonists there in. Bollywood and Indian cinema offer a kaleidoscope view of India and the Indian society and hence understanding India would be incomplete without them. This course offers an overview of the themes, trends, influences, challenges and promises of Bollywood and regional cinema. Of course watching select movies is part of the course-work!
