Indian Society: Tradition & Modernity

Indian society is undergoing a great transformation at an unprecedented pace. The change in last 10 years is much more than change in last 50 years. Economic liberalization, IT boom,  smart phones, digital economy, etc. etc. are a just a few important landmarks on this long list of change. How is India coping up with this change? Is it structurally capable of handling this rapid phenomenon? Being one of the most ancient civilizations, is there a conflict with change and modernity in Indian mind? etc. are some of the questions that this course seeks to answer and thereby questions one’s accepted notions of tradition and modernity.
