Gender: Role, Identity, Barriers, Conflict & Harmony

The chief objective of the course is to trace the multiple ways in which gender influences, negotiates, positions itself in the functioning of the Indian society. While roles and responsibilities have been changing from a traditional setting to a modern society, yet certain genders find it difficult to break certain barriers. Does identity create barriers? Do roles limit the possibilities? What constitutes the relationship between the genders? Conflict or harmony etc. are some of the important questions that would be explored in the backdrop of historical, contemporary, social, political and economic situations during the course.
