Dr. Soumya Manjunath Chavan has a Masters in Painting and a Ph D in fine arts from the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. She has to her credit five solo shows of paintings and participated in many group shows and art camps in India and abroad. She has presented and published about 20 research papers in national and international conferences. She has been a fellow of ICHR (1999) and India-Sri Lanka Foundation (2016-17). Presently she works as the assistant professor and has guided 5 MPhil candidates and guiding 8 Ph D candidates at the Department of Performing arts and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Jain University, Bangalore.
